Movie Trivia
[01] -- Look up TEN of your favorite movies on IMDB.
[02] -- Click the "trivia" link in the sidebar.
[03] -- Post a fun and random bit of trivia from each film.
[04] -- Tag five people!
(In no particular order... If I try to rank them in terms of my favorites, I'll be here all year! ;) And I resisted the urge to do each of my "trilogies" as separate entries and instead just picked one of the three. ;) )
1. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Tom Baker was a candidate for the role of Gandalf after his brief, but praised, cameo as the dying elven king in Dungeons and dragons. (2000)
(Wow, there's some fantastic trivia on Fellowship, stuff that even I'd never heard before! So if you're a LOTR fan, check it out! ;) But dude, how could I resist knowing there was almost a Doctor Gandalf Who? ;) )
2. X-Men
Maria Bello was considered for the role of Jean Grey at one point.
(*gasp* No Famke??? *shakes head in dismay* )
3. Star Wars - Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
In the asteroid scene, one of the asteroids is actually a shoe. The rumor is that George Lucas asked the SFX people to redo the scene so many times that they got annoyed and one of them threw in their shoe. Another of the asteroids is actually a potato. It appears just as the Millennium Falcon first enters the field. Two asteroids travel from the top left to the bottom right corner of the screen. Just after the second asteroid leaves the screen a third one appears in the top left corner. This is the potato.
(A shoe and a potato, now that's some interesting space debris! ;) )
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
While the script for the second movie was being written, Keira Knightley suggested the scene between Jack and Elizabeth where Jack is handcuffed to the ship.
(So Keira's a Sparrabether, eh? ;) )
5. Transformers
Optimus Prime is composed of 10,108 pieces.
(And I love every one of them... [/Optimus Prime fangirl] ;) )
6. Superman Returns
Actors McG was screening before his departure include Jason Behr and Jared Padalecki for the role of Superman, Scarlett Johansson for Lois Lane, and Shia LaBeouf for Jimmy Olsen.
(I'd never heard that about Jared! And ooo, I loved Jason Behr in Roswell! But I loved Brandon Routh as Clark/Superman... ;) )
7. Pitch Black
Vin Diesel actually performed the shoulder-dislocation stunt (when Riddick breaks free for the second time) for the crew, holding a chain between his hands, although he couldn't do it with the cuffs on. The version we see is mostly him with some special effects thrown in.
(Vin's shoulders... *drools* Okay, so the dislocation part was icky. But still. The dude has some amazing shoulders. And arms. And back. And stuff. ;) )
8. Beauty and the Beast (Disney, 1991)
The last phrase of Cogsworth's line "Flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep... " was ad-libbed by David Ogden Stiers.
(I loved that line! ;) Beauty and the Beast has always been a favorite story of mine and I was so enchanted with the beautiful animation in this film when it came out. I've seen it dozens of times and still just love it! )
9. The Mummy
During the scene where the people are chanting, the supporting artists began to change what they were chanting from the correct Egyptian phrase, to "Ohwhatanarseyouare" during rehearsals. Before long, they were all chanting it, and did so on the final take. Nobody on the crew noticed during filming, and it therefore remains in the film.
(Okay, so I'm 12... This just made me laugh when I read it! ;) As for the movie itself, I actually wore out my first VCR copy... O_O I adore Oded Fehr and Arnold Vosloo, what can I say? ;) )
10. Ladyhawke
Richard Donner originally wanted to cast Rutger Hauer as the evil captain of the guard while casting a younger actor, Kurt Russell, as Navarre. Rutger wasn't interested in his offered role, but expressed interest in playing Navarre. When Russell dropped out a few days before principle photography began, the part was handed to Hauer.
(The VERY first fantasy movie I ever saw and it completely turned me onto the fantasy genre! Up until LOTR: Fellowship came out, this is the movie that I've watched the most in my life - way more than 100 times. ;) )
Not tagging, 'cause, you know, I just don't like to do that! ;) But if you do this meme, please let me know so I can read your answers! ;) And yes, I have terrible taste in movies. I love big, loud, fun movies where lotsa stuff blows up, what can I say? ;) I have enough seriousness in RL, I like to have a good time when I'm watching a movie!
Was going to ramble a bit but it's late so I'd best hit the hay. It's been a loooooong day! And yet another day when I didn't get to check my flist like I intended. :S Hopefully tomorrow will be a much less busy day! :D *hugs flist* Nighty-night! ;)
PS - I love my shoulder-dancing doctor icon! I realized the other day that I was sitting here in my chair, listening to an upbeat song...and bobbing around in my chair in almost that exact same way. :P Okay, so I'm a dork. But if it's good enough for Nine, then it's good enough for me! ;) ♥♥♥!!!
