The Mysterious Case of the Phantom Caller - a hard-boiled soft-boiled mystery of utter terror and suspense!

The phone rang. Our heroine, a dame with eyes as sharp as a fangirl's squee and a disposition like a vidder without a good quality source material, picked up the receiver and sharply said, "Hello?"

Static accosted her ears, mocking her as it had for the past three days. Days as long as a night without a soul. The display on the handset suddenly read No line.

"How can there be no line if I just got a call?" she asked in a world-weary voice and pushed the off button. Before she could hang it up, the phone rang again.

"Rats!" she swore in that charming way she had of cursing without actually using acknowledged curse words. Then she realized something was wrong. It wasn't "the phone" ringing, as in the collective number of phones connected to the single house line.

It was literally one phone ringing somewhere in the house, one lone warbling ring amidst the handful of the other phones all sitting as accusingly silent as the grave at midnight.

She looked down at the handset still in her grip and the screen read "Extension in use."

But that couldn't be. None of the other extensions were up. Were they?

Now, of course, this isn't the way it works in canon: the Doctor doesn't "regenerate" into someone else. ;) But I wanted to see what would happen if we imagined a "bad" regeneration bringing out the worst in the Doctor, a darker side that hungered for power and was willing to do whatever it took to get it. Whether you call that side the Valeyard or just simply imagine it as the Doctor as filtered through the lens of the Master, that's the story I tried to tell with this vid. ♥!

As of right now, I'm no longer taking new requests as much as I dearly love to do them. But the past few months of real life have been quite rough on me and I've mostly lost all inspiration for both fics and vids except for in weird, random, rather scatter-shot ways. :S And it definitely bugs me to know that I've left people hanging when I've promised to do something for them.

So, of those that are left on the lists, I'll be looking everything over with a practical eye to whether or not I can really (and sometime in the near future) manage to do them in a way that does justice to the original request. If I feel like I can't, then I'll contact you to let you know. If I don't contact you, then that means I'm going to continue to try to make some headway on your request. Cross your fingers for me and wish me luck! ;)

Hopefully there will come a point again where I one day feel confident enough to accept a request and feel like I can honestly do it. But right now... I'm just not there yet. Thanks so much for all of your patience and understanding!
